SUMMER GATHERING 2010

Date is set, same weekend (3rd), as last year. August 20, 21, & 22 2010 at Fort Flagler!

Early last year the park underwent some very extensive upgrading. Some of this
renovation resulted inmost of the campsites getting power, water & sewer
hookups. These are considered "serviced" sites and are $62.50 for Friday and
Saturday nights combined. The "standard" sites, or tent sites as they are
sometimes referred to, are $48.50 for both nights. We were not able to get
any ADA sites this year.Because we are in a State Park, we are subject to
the same rules and regulations as everyone else. This includes the process
of "reserving campsites". The biggest impact this has on us is that sites can only be
reserved up to nine months in advance.

This means that we need to secure our sites about the second
week of November of the previous year and have them paid for in full. Due
to the popularity of this park, if we wait until Thanksgiving there are no sites
left to choose from in August! The initial payment comes from the Tribe's general
fund and is paid back as people request sites throughout the following
months.

There are discounts for persons with disabilities and disabled veterans. But,
because we've reserved the sites long before we know who will be
occupying them, the Tribe has to pay full price at the time the reservations
are booked in November.  So there are some administrative adjustments
throughout the year. And like the banks,  the State charges fees for these
types of transactions! There are still a few sites of both types available and
can be obtained by contacting the Tribe at info@snohomishtribe.com
or 425-744-1855. Payments can be made out to the Snohomish Tribe of
Indians and mailed to 11014 19th Ave. SE; Suite 8 PMB# 101; Everett, WA
98208. For those not camping out, there is day parking at no cost.

We have already received a generous "in-kind" donation of 3 days use of the
picnic area.(A monetary equivalent of over $360). Not having the advantages that
most other tribes operate with, we would not be able to continue to have an
event like this withouteveryone's participation. We thank you in advance for
all the donations we receive whether it is in the form of goods, services,
time or monetary.

We're planning a lot of activities for this year to keep everyone of all ages busy.
There is an Elder Shelter for folks to gather and share stories. A Youth Booth will be
set up for the younger crowd to do arts and crafts. There will be vendors including our
Tribal Enterprise's Trading Post. There will be a fundraising breakfast Saturday
morning and, of course, the potluck dinner on Saturday where brother
Brandon cooks up the most delicious salmon! Fry bread and clams will be
available for part of the day as well.

There will also be drumming, singing, and dancing throughout the weekend, too.
The Blue Heron canoe will be on site again this year. The Blue Heron is skippered
by our very own Chairman didahalqid (Mike Evans). They are currently gearing up
for this year's Tribal Journey in July. You can learn more about the Blue Heron and
the Tribal Journey at www.blueheroncanoe.com/ . We're really looking forward to
a big turnout for our summer gathering and a lot of fun!

Respectfully,

Mike Schultz
